Giveaway Now...Listings Later

As promised it is Wednesday, August 29th and I have giveaways planned.

I had fun putting together the two goodie bags in the photos below, there is a nice sampling of my enamel and glass in both. When I started to tally up the items both giveaways are valued at over $100 each, oh my.

Well my online customers deserve a giveaway, it has been quite a summer for me, and I am afraid I have neglected you guys.

As I said to my customers at Bead Fest my online etsy shop customers are very important to me, because of your support I have started on this journey of making, selling, and sharing my beads.

So thank you, thank you, thank you.

This giveaway starts now and I will pick two winners next Wednesday, September 5th at 9am ( It's my 20th wedding anniversary!!!) You may enter up until 12 midnight on Tuesday, September 4th.

How do you get a chance (chances) to win the following goodies?

As usual I have a question for you, these questions that I periodically ask in my giveaways have helped guide me to make your shopping or looking experience as pleasant as possible.

How do you feel about made to order beads? How long are you willing to wait for your order to arrive on your doorstep? Are you comfortable with the item appearing in the photo not being the exact item you will receive?

- Leave your answer to the above question in the comment section. Please don't feel obligated to write a novel, any feedback will be welcomed. This comment = 2 chances to win

- Facebook friend me, my alias is Anne Gardanne. If you already are a friend that counts too. This = 1 chance to win

- Link to this giveaway post on your blog. If you don't have a blog but have a facebook page, link to it on your facebook page. This = 2 chances to win.

- I don't tweet yet, but you do and tweet about this giveaway you get another chance to win.

That is a total of 6 chances to win, please let me know what you have done in the comment section. If you can please try and confine this information to one comment, but if you don't no worries I will be on the lookout.

Great questions Anne! I do like custom items. I am willing to wait a bit for them, usually a few weeks. I have to keep that in mind myself as I do offer custom made to order items in my shop all the time. People seem to not mind at all if theirs is a tad bit different. That makes it more unique! Good luck with the answers! I will come back to read them! Enjoy the day! Erin

I don't mind the idea of made to order beads. As long as the listing warns me of this beforehand. I would be willing to wait about 2 weeks for my beads to arrive. However I think a month is far too long! (says I, with a roll of the eyes and look at the calendar- am currently waiting this long for 6 lampwork glass beads from another artist)
If my beads arrived and they were significantly different than the photo and I wasn't aware that there may be some discrepancies in design, I would be irritated. But I think if I knew up front that there was a chance the beads could be slightly different, I'd be okay with that, definitely!

I do like custom orders, I am also impatient when I order items. I like to have them right away. But if it is a custom order, I can wait up to one week before it is shipped out. Any more than that, I get kind of antsy. I think it is fine if the item is not the exact one that is pictured, just as long as it says that in the description and the one sent it very close in coloration.

What a great giveaway!
I have ordered custom beads a couple of times and both times I have been left waiting more then 6 weeks for them to arrive, this has really put me off. I think up that 3 weeks would be acceptable but much more then that is like torture! As long as your told up front that each may be a little diffrent (I think we all come to expect that of handmade items) then there would be no problems.
Have facebook friended you and tweeted just off to blog your give away!
Have a great day

Wonderful giveaway! I don't mind waiting for custom orders, if it is clearly stated and the delivery time isn't that long it is perfectly fine. I will facebook friend you as well.

I like the idea of made to order beads. I would be willing to wait two weeks for them to arrive. I would be irritated if they looked significantly different than described, but a little variation is ok (and to be expected). Thanks for the chance to win one of these awesome giveaways! I have friended you on FB, and shared on my FB page.

What a great promotion! So far, I've never been dissappointed by made to order beads. The longest I have had to wait is 3 weeks and that seems reasonable.

Could not find your business page on facebook but I will tweet your give away on facebook

Have a Great Day!

moonlitfantaseas said...

a few weeks wait is not bad, when you are getting something made just for you...and while I realize that as with all hand made goods, all are originals, I would expect the item to at least resemble the pic, just not a totally perfect match

Alicia Coats said...

I'm ok with made to order beads. The longest I waited was 2 months and I thought that was exessive, but they did keep Etsy updated with wait times.

I have never actually ordered a "made to order" bead but I'm still fairly new to beading. I've never owned any enameled items -- these are gorgeous!

I would imagine waiting about 2-3 weeks for the item to reach me would be about right, depending on the item and its intricacies.

Let's see -- I shared my blog post about your giveaway on twitter -- https://twitter.com/Bakin_Goddess/status/240888854498918400

I blogged about your giveaway --

I'm so excited for a chance to win your beautiful goodies!!! Good luck to everybody!

Hi Anne!

I have no problems with waiting for beads to be custom-made. Like many others here, I think 2-3 weeks is completely fine. Anything over a month might cause me to think twice - unless it's a larger order. And as long as a listing clearly indicates that I won't be receiving the EXACT items pictured (but still similar), that allows me to make a fair decision.

I'm already friends with you on FB, so I think that gives me 3 chances to win one of these GORGEOUS giveaway bundles :)

What a gorgeous giveaway! Very talented lady!

I love made to order beads...it's kind of a surprise because you envisage how they'll look in your head but you never quite know until you unwrap them! I don't mind at all if the photo isn't the "exact" item in the picture, I know it'll be close enough. I don't mind waiting about 4 weeks, maybe a little longer as I'm in the UK so postage can take a while too.
I'm already your friend on FB (Natalie McKenna) and will share this giveaway on both my personal and business page too. Good luck to all, someone is going to be a very lucky person! Have a great anniversary too! x

Made to order beads are great as long as it doesn't take longer than two weeks.

As far as the beads looking different than the photo, that one does bother me. I feel that the photo should accurately represent the item the buyer will receive. The photos are what sells the item, so a buyer should be receiving what they see in the photo.

Thank you for this awesome giveaway!!

I just sent you a friend request-thanks for the invite! :)

What an awesome giveaway and I love that you are trying to garner something from the question.
I would wait 2 maybe 3 weeks if the person let me know in advance. If the difference was slight, I wouldn't mind because duplicating exactly can be hard but if it was really different, I might message them and find out why or if I missed something.

aneri_masi said...

Hey Anne...thanks for setting up this giveaway :)

Now onto your questions:
How do you feel about made to order beads?
--If I know exactly what I want, I would definitely place a custom order.

How long are you willing to wait for your order to arrive on your doorstep?
--I understand that shipping times are out of the seller's hands once they mail things out, but I do expect them to give a time line about WHEN they will send them out and stick to that timeframe.

Are you comfortable with the item appearing in the photo not being the exact item you will receive?
--No, not comfortable with that.

Sent you an FB friend request and also shared on my page :)

i am perfectly fine with custom orders! it makes the item more personal to me! i don't mind waiting for a few weeks, but a month would be too long, especially if i needed it for something special!
* am following your blog
* sent friend request on fb
* shared on fb page

the giveaways are just beautiful! i love the colors and the components!

shelly said...

p.s.... i would like the item to look something like it was supposed to look like... as long as there are no cosmetic differences.

I am willing to wait 2 weeks for the made to order beads to be shipped meaning they would arrive in a month. I prefer to get an email with a photo for approval before shipping, but I'm willing to take the chance on sight unseen beads if I love everything the artist makes. I have to admit I don't order many beads that I can't see the actual item before shipping.

Hello Anne first I would like to say thank you for this awesome giveaway. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. No to the questions. Made to order beads are wonderful. How long will I wait well honey as long as it takes to get something that special. I would want it to be close to the picture posted a tiny bit diff is not bad might even be better...lol...Okie Dokie then Hope my answers helped, bye for now and Happy Beading

I am willing to wait and have so some of my favorite bead peeps to make beads I request. It is not like we have nothing else to work with in our stash. I usually want them to be close to the picture however they are handmade and it can change slightly. We expect that. If it is very far off just a note and maybe a pic. This is a great giveaway. I will go and post it. I am already your fb friend.

Erin S said...

made to order is totally fine with me. I will wait patiently for about 2 weeks, and then I start to get annoyed and impatient. It depends on the item, if I'm ok with item not being the exact one. If its something fairly basic and it will be really similar, I'm totally fine with it. If its really detailed, I'd rather see before I buy.

Mellisa said...

I think custom orders are a great option to have. I think as long as the time frame before shipping is laid out from the start there should be no problem with waiting for a few weeks. I do expect that the piece will look similar to what I expect, identical isn't necessary but big variations wouldn't be good.

KayzKreationz said...

It all kind of depends. I kind of like being able to order and get my beads shipped right away. But I have done a couple of made to order, because I wanted something specifid and didn't mind waiting. But I think about 2 weeks is long enough to wait at least for them to be made and then shipped right after that. I realize, too that the item may not be exactly like wht's in the picture, as long as it's fairly close to the design andd colors I was wanting. I love your 2 giveaway pouches.

I do like the idea of custom-made beads, and I've ordered 1-2 things like that. I think I would be willing to wait 2-3 weeks, but I would expect to be informed of approx turnaround times and also of any delays. And because I live overseas I'd want to know when the beads were shipped as it can take a week or two.
Now I am going to go and friend you on FB. Thanks for the opportunity to win some of your fabulous beads!

I like instant gratification!! There. I said it.
But...I don't mind waiting for a custom order, 2 to 3 weeks, when I place it with someone I know. (i.e. someone from whom I've purchased before.)
These comments make for interesting reading, as I'm thinking about making and selling metal clay components and beads sometime soon....
This is a great collection for a giveaway!!

Custom beads are wonderful. Willing to wait for what I want that is hand crafted One to two months. Not looking like the picture is even better. Unique is good

Wanda said...

I love custom beads and really enjoy working with the best!!!! I think that custom, one of a kind, handmade beads have a heart and soul to them. They start the conversation of the piece and the maker simply joins in the conversation! I would wait for as long as it takes the artist to feel comfortable that they have been able to accomplish all that they wanted to express in a piece - I would rather wait for quality of artistry than put a time constraint on it.. as for a picture - that should give me as a consumer a general idea - but does not have to be exact --- but I want it to have the same feel..
I am getting ready to like you on Facebook, and share your giveaway on my Facebook page. I hope that my comments are helpful --- and I hope that I win some of your majestic beads!!
Thank you for the opportunity!
Love,
Wanda

I think custom beads are great. I'm always will to work with the artist on how long it will take. If someone tells me that they are a month and a half out, that's fine. I just like knowing the general time frame estimated.

Here's what else I dd:
1. I liked your FB page.
2 I posted this on my FB profile page.
3. I tweeted it.

Jess Green said...

Hi Anne,

I think made to order beads is a great idea - it gives the artist a chance to stream line their production to what they know will be profitable, and it should also give a customer a wider choice of designs to choose from. Of course if you order made to order beads, you should expect a bit of a wait - you are requesting a service as well as a product in this case. I would happily wait a couple of weeks, maybe a little longer if the artist communicated their time constraints to me and kept me updated. As to beads being different from what is pictured - you have to expect some variation in hand made items, so a little difference would barely be noticed I think. If the items received were very different, or of a visably lesser quality to those pictured, then there would be a problem. If there is an issue with exactly reproducing the items, again good communication would probably help resolve the problem :)

Christine said...

Wow - amazing giveaway!!
I would be willing to wait 2-3 weeks for a custom order, although I would understand a delay, as long as we were in communication about it. Also, I would like it as close to original as possible - slight variations are fine.

As far as made to order beads. . .I've never ordered any myself so I can only guess how I feel about them. I definitely think it's something neat to have available.

As far as how long for an order. . .I'm okay with a few weeks, no longer than a month. And if it will take that long, I'd like to know in advance so I can be prepared and not anxious about it (I'm a little neurotic).

Finally, photos vs. actual. I'm pretty okay with that as well. Again, as long as it's specified in the description something like "items received may not be exactly like items pictured but are made with the same materials, process, etc."

I hope this helps. ..and Happy Anniversary!! :)

I am all for made-to-order beads and don't mind waiting, assuming I am given an accurate time frame that it will take ahead of time. How long I would mind waiting would depend on how badly I wanted the beads! I think 2 weeks is reasonable though. I am not as open to ordering something if it may not look exactly like the photo. It would depend though. For example, an artist was selling handmade owl charms and showed 4-5 ones in the photo and said you would get one similar. Well, each owl looked a little different. Some I liked, some not as much, so in that case I want to be able to pick the one I want and for it to look like what I am expecting. So there's my two cents (or more)!

I LOVE YOUR BEADS! I would be willing to wait 2-3 weeks for a custom order. If the beads are handmade, I would understand if each bead/color varies a bit. Most sites I have ordered from had a disclaimer stating this.I feel the whole point of buying handmade is that no 2 pieces are exactly alike.

Thanks for this awesome giveaway! I am now a new friend on FB!

I don't mind waiting for beads that are being made special for me--over a month would be too long. And as for variations from what is pictured--I realize that there is no way you can make two beads exactly alike so I'm OK with this. As long as it is close that's fine-not like a picture of an owl and you get a cat--not OK!!

Made to order beads are great, in my begginner opinion. I would order or make this kind of beads. If the order really worth it (as usually happens) I could wait for some weeks.
I expect the beads looking very similar as photos. as a photographer, I'm usually very careful with this.

Having done quite a few custom orders, I feel that a two week period to wait is about right to get the order to the customer. Small or slight differences from a photo to the actual product are welcome and expected in handmade items. However, the shop owner should be upfront and detailed in the possibilities, like color or size. Thanks for the opportunity to win some of your wonderful work.

Unknown said...

I love custom orders and am quite willing to wait as long as I know ahead of time. I would like to see a picture if there are obvious differences but in handmade this is to be expected.
I friended you on FB and followed your blog now.

Well it all depends. If I knew it was made to order upfront I would expect to also see a timeframe. I would expect that timeframe would be held (unless an emergency). If not possible I would expect to be kept well informed. Basically as he customer I shouldn't have to ask "when?". I'm use to shipping taking time so I can be quite patient for something I really want

Laurie said...

Made to order beads are great! I wouldn't mind waiting a couple to three weeks max for them. As for normal orders - 1 week is about all I can stand to wait. And I think the item should be the same as the picture - unless so noted in the description so I can plan for it.

Unknown said...

I have never ordered customized beads before. I usually find somethingthat hs caught my eye. If I did order I would probably wait 2-3 weeks. If it's hand made, I would like the artist to describe what the outcome should like. I wouldn't expect it to be exactly as the photograph

good questions-
Yes, I like custom orders very much.
I think about 3 weeks is good, but I live in Alaska so I expect things to take longer. I would be concerned if I didn't hear back from the person I ordered from in three weeks. I'd be annoyed if I didn't have it in a month...
I'd be okay if it wasn't the exact item pictured; however, I'd want it to be similar. It shouldn't show up a totally different color and design.

Hope this helps!

I like the idea of made to order beads, and I think if you are asking the artist to make a custom piece, then you trust them enough that you are ok with it not looking exactly like what is on the computer. I totally get that everyone has a life, and if we stay in communication with each other, a longer time frame is very acceptable.

I'm already a facebook fan of yours! I hope all the feedback is helpful, and truly appreciate the giveaway!

Holy crow it took me forever to find the end of the comments. I would love custom work.

I've been really fortunate when I've ordered "made to order" beads, and have never waited more than 3 weeks for them. That's a good thing, because waiting longer than 3 weeks would probably put me off.

I have to admit that if I order something "custom made" from a representative photo, I DO want mine to look exactly like the photos.

I like the idea of custom beads but I seem to never order them. I know how hard it is to recreate something exactly the same - especially when working with fire. I think enamel would be easier to do than glass - and a lot quicker too. However, with your pieces, I can see wanting/ordering headpins that were a bit longer or had a bead drawn at the end. I'd say about 2 -3 weeks would be about the longest I'd want to wait.

I friended you on FB, BTW. Hi Anne! ;)

I have placed custom orders through Etsy, and everyone I've worked with has been great at telling me how long it will be up-front, and then keeping me updated. I almost think that's more important than the actual amount of time.

Many Etsy listings will state that the item you'll receive will be very similar but not exactly the one listed --again, I think that communication is great. I like that handmade things are not all identical.
